Computing company Microsoft and medical technology producer Becton Dickinson (BD) will open an accelerator in Israel that will focus on health startups, Mobi Health News has reported.
Startups that enter the accelerator will have the option to receive a $25,000 convertible note from BD and access to Microsoft’s BizSpark plan, which includes free licences to Microsoft software, technology and advisers.
In order to be accepted at the accelerator, companies will need to have fewer than seven employees, be at their seed round stage and have raised less than $700,000 in capital.
The accelerator will be located in the Microsoft Ventures’ premises in Tel Aviv and will launch on September 7 2014. Registration is open until July 24.
The programme will represent Microsoft’s second accelerator in Israel. The company considered the first a success as 28 of the 33 startups that recently graduated from it raised an average of $1.2m in new capital each.
