Microsoft to fund Brazil’s female founders

US-headquartered software provider Microsoft has launched a R$50m ($10.4m) vehicle that will invest in and support female entrepreneurs in Brazil.

Iniciativa Women Entrepreneurship comprises an investment fund called WE Ventures that will make direct investments sized between R$1m and R$5m, together with WE Impact, which will provide development assistance and R$50,000 to R$500,000 for each participant.

WE Ventures intends to double the size of its fund to R$100m by 2025 and has made its first investment, supplying an undisclosed amount for PackID, a provider of connected temperature and humidity monitoring technology. It will also provide WE Impact’s capital.

WE Impact’s initial slate of companies comprises Dinie, Afinando o Cérebro, Exemplaria Solutions, AI Robots, Raks Tecnologia Agrícola, EntregAli, DNA da Educação, Tamboro, Abler Recrutamento Digital, Uffa, Ananse, Você Tech, Wecondo, Pontue – Redação Inteligente, Soul.Med, Logpyx, Cash.in and Coopark.
