Microsoft Ventures, the corporate venturing unit owned by computing company Microsoft, has launched a cybersecurity accelerator in Israel, according to online technology news source TechWorld.
The accelerator is being undertaken in partnership with Jerusalem Venture Partners (JVP), a local venture capital fund which has been one of the country’s leading investors in cybersecurity startups, and will aim to help startups in the sector develop products that can defend against the leading cyber threats.
The accelerator will involve between six and eight startups undergoing a four-month programme from September 2014. JVP will invest $1m in one of the startups through its JVP Cyber Labs vehicle at the end of the four months.
“Our accelerator programme leverages the Microsoft worldwide footprint to give startups unparalleled routes to customers and partners,” said Hanan Lavy, director of Microsoft Ventures’ Tel Aviv accelerator.
“We are eager to work closely with JVP to provide unique opportunities for entrepreneurs in our accelerator”.
