US-based live music technology developer Mixhalo secured $10.7m on Tuesday in a series A round that featured talent agencies Red Light Management and Another Planet Entertainment.
Venture capital firm Foundry Group led the round, which included Sapphire Sport, VC firm Sapphire Ventures’ $115m sports fund, as well as Founders Fund, Defy Partners, Cowboy Ventures and angel investors Rick Farman, Rich Goodstone and Charlie Walker.
Mixhalo’s platform enables live event producers to deliver real-time audio directly to attendees’ headphones through a wireless channel that operates separately to the venue’s. It has been used at events such as concerts, conferences, festivals, trade shows, museums and sporting events.
The company said the round increased its total funding to $15m. Mixhalo has not disclosed any previous rounds but counts the band Metallica as well as private investors Marc Geiger, Drew Houston, Pharrell Williams, Hans Zimmer and Rick Rubin as seed-stage backers.
Ryan McIntyre, managing director and co-founder of Foundry Group, has joined the company’s board of directors in connection with his firm’s investment.
