Telecommunications firm SoftBank has exited US-based sweepstakes app publisher Jump Ramp in an acquisition of undisclosed size by mobile game developer MobilityWare.
Jump Ramp publishes mobile apps in which users can win money through sweepstakes and promotions. Its biggest brand, Lucktastic, is a free-to-play app that allows users to win up to $10,000.
The company had identified SoftBank Capital, a now defunct corporate venturing subsidiary of SoftBank, as an investor along with Bullpen Capital, Founders Collective and Lead Edge Capital. It has not disclosed details of how much it raised.
Dave Yonamine, MobilityWare’s chief executive, said: “The Jump Ramp team has not only created a successful suite of games and a sophisticated performance marketing platform, they also bring extensive experience in digital sweepstakes and rewards.
“This acquisition offers a number of key synergies and will allow us to take the lead in a new and growing category of mobile gaming.”
