REV Venture Partners, the investment arm of data services firm RELX formerly known as Reed Elsevier Ventures, has led a $13m series B round for US-based collaborative analytics platform Mode Analytics.
Venture capital firm Foundation Capital and asset manager Goldcrest Investments also supplied funding for the round. Kevin Brown, founding partner of REV Venture Partners, will join Mode’s board of directors.
Founded in 2013, Mode Analytics has created an analytics platform that integrates with, and enables users to query, a wide variety of databases such as MySQL, Amazon Redshift and Presto.
The platform will enable users to interact with data without needing coding skills, through drag-and-drop charting capabilities, drilldowns and filters. Mode’s clients include ride-sharing app developer Lyft, e-commerce platform Shopify and online game streaming service Twitch.
Foundation Capital previously led a $7.5m series A round in 2015, with participation from Goldcrest and Arnold Capital. Formation8 led a $2m seed round the year before that included Goldcrest, Panorama Point and assorted angel investors.
Kevin Brown said: “The rest of the world looks to Silicon Valley for how it works with data, and Mode has proven its business intelligence leadership, serving many of the best companies in the valley.
“We are proud to play a role in fuelling Mode’s further expansion to even more sectors and geographies outside of tech, as virtually every organisation today should be empowered to think about and work with data in the way Mode makes possible.”
