US-based DNA synthesis technology developer Molecular Assemblies has raised $12.2m in a series A round featuring healthcare equipment producer Agilent Technologies.
Venture capital firm ISelect Fund led the round, which was also backed by Alexandria Venture Investments, the VC arm of life sciences real estate investment trust Alexandria Real Estate Equities, and micro VC firm Keshif Ventures.
Molecular Assemblies is working on technology that will facilitate the reliable and affordable reading and writing of DNA for next-generation products in the life sciences industry as well as sectors such as data storage, nanomachines and bioelectronics.
The company had previously closed a $2.3m seed round in 2016 featuring Agilent, Alexandria Venture Investments, Keshif Ventures, Cavendish Impact Capital Fund, Eleven Two Capital, Genomics Investment Syndicate and Newport Holdings.
