Rumi Morales (pictured), formerly head of financial exchange operator CME’s corporate venturing unit, CME Ventures, has joined US-based venture capital firm Outlier Ventures as a partner.
CME hired Morales as executive director for international corporate development and finance in 2010 and promoted her to head of CME Ventures three years later. She made Global Corporate Venturing’s 2017 Powerlist, but decided in August 2017 to step down.
Outlier Ventures invests in blockchain and crypto asset technologies, including those related to artificial intelligence, robotics and the internet of things. The firm has offices in Canada and the UK, but Morales will help it expand in the US out of a Chicago office.
Before coming to CME, Morales had founded Singapore-based financial research provider Malmora as CEO having previously logged seven years as a vice-president at investment banking firm Goldman Sachs from 2002.
