US-based handset company Motorola Solutions has led a $1.2m first close by US-based mobile business application company Canvas.
Canvas is aiming to raise $1.75m in the series B round. Canvas raised its first round from an unnamed "prominent angel investor" in July 2009.
Reese Schroeder, a managing director at Motorola Solutions Venture Capital, said: "Canvas is well positioned at the epicentre of several shifts underway in the mobile business application market, including an increasingly mobile workforce and growing adoption of smartphones, tablets and enterprise digital assistant devices. With a proven management team, differentiated product offering and a scalable go-to-market strategy we are confident Canvas will continue to gain rapid traction in a ‘mobile apps for business’ market just beginning to take off."
Canvas was set up in 2008 and provides platforms for businesses to customise and publish data collection apps for mobile devices.
