Motorola Mobility Ventures, the corporate venturing unit of the eponymous retail phone maker, has invested an undisclosed sum in Moblyng, a games developer for mobile devices, in its second deal of the week.
Other investors in Moblyng’s latest round were venture capital firms Mohr Davidow Ventures and Deep Fork Capital.
In April, Moblyng raised $2.65m from Mohr Davidow and Deep Fork to add to its previous $8m raised from the firms.
Harshul Sanghi, managing director of Motorola Mobility Ventures, said: "Moblyng was an early adopter of Android and is an industry leader in using HTML5 to bring cross-platform social gaming experiences to mobile devices."
Stewart Putney, chief executive officer and founder of Moblyng, which makes the m:Racing (pictured) and Dungeon Quest games, said: "As an early Android developer, Moblyng is very excited to work with Motorola Mobility, the leading Android smartphone and tablet provider."
Moblyng games have been published for Android, Facebook, iOS and WebOS platforms and have been downloaded more than 9 million times.
Previously, Motorola Mobility Ventures backed Catch Media, which manages digital rights, as its first investment since Motorola Mobility split off from Motorola Solutions in January.
