Israel-based equity crowdfunding platform OurCrowd is launching a technology incubator in partnership with data communications equipment manufacturer Motorola Solutions and conglomerate Reliance Industries.
Yissum Research Development Company, a research division of Hebrew University of Jerusalem, will also be involved in the initiative. OurCrowd is replacing venture capital firm Jerusalem Venture Partners, which previously led the program.
The incubator will focus on early-stage Jerusalem-based startups in areas such as big data, analytics, artificial intelligence and financial technology. Applications will be invited in the second half of 2017.
The scheme will fall within the incubator program administered by Israel Innovation Authority, the Israeli government agency formerly known as the Office of the Chief Scientist of the Ministry of Economy.
Eduardo Conrado, executive vice-president of Motorola Solutions’ strategy and innovation office, said: “In today’s technology environment, strong partnerships and strategic investments help accelerate innovation.
“The Jerusalem incubator is one element of our Israel innovation hub, which is focused on developing advanced solutions in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and other fields.”
