Muth to advise on corporate venturing at PwC

Mark Muth, formerly a director in consumer goods corporation Unilever’s corporate finance team, has joined professional services firm PriceWaterhouseCoopers as a director in its London-based corporate finance team.

Muth’s new role will involve him working with Europe-based corporates to assist them in their venture capital investments, advising them on strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and structure, structure pertaining not only to tax and legal factors but how each business directs its investments.

“Corporate venture capitalists have a better chance at achieving investment success than traditional venture capitalists because of the vast and varied resources of the wider company behind them,” Muth said in a statement.

“But, while an increasing number of businesses recognise that corporate venturing has an important role to play in promoting innovation and growth, managing value creation within the portfolio is the key to long-term success.”

Muth was at Unilever Ventures from 2002 to 2013, after working for three years as a managing director for GE Equity, the equity capital division of General Electric, leading a team that made direct investments in industrial companies and private equity funds.

Mark Muth will feature on a panel discussing the future of strategic value at the Global Corporate Venturing Symposium on 20th May. A full interview with him will be published next week.
