Recruitment firm MyNavi has acquired one of its portfolio companies, Japan-based video chat technology developer FacePeer, for an undisclosed amount.
Founded in 2015, FacePeer has built video conference software products including FaceHub, which focuses on business-to-business-to-customer online communication, and ViewHub, a platform designed for online job interviews.
The company most recently raised an undisclosed amount from MyNavi in early 2019 through a strategic partnership which involved the latter distributing FaceHub and ViewHub to its customers.
MyNavi had already backed a $1.8m round for FacePeer in 2017, investing with Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Venture Capital and Sansei Capital, on behalf of insurers Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance and Taiju Life, as well as Japan Asia Investment. It included debt financing supplied by Japan Finance Corporation.
Japan Asia Investment joined CSAJ Fund, a vehicle for the Computer Software Association of Japan, to provide $690,000 in funding for the company in 2016. Online English conversation course provider RareJob and IT services firm Showcase had invested an undisclosed amount in FacePeer a year earlier.
