US-based mobile game technology developer N3twork completed a $40m series C round backed by video game publisher Blue Planet Software yesterday.
Griffin Gaming Partners, Galaxy Digital Capital, Kleiner Perkins, Korea Investment Partners, Table and Ocean Road also contributed to the round.
N3twork has developed a range of products focusing on mobile gaming, including a social network for gamers and publishers, an automated mobile user acquisition service and an app distribution scheme.
The company released its first title, a mobile puzzle game called Legendary: Game of Heroes, in 2016. In June this year it signed a strategic agreement with Tetris Company to develop new games based on puzzle game Tetris, for which Blue Planet oversees business operations.
The series C funding will allow N3twork to accelerate development across multiple business areas. Peter Levin, managing director at Griffin and former president of game publisher Lionsgate Interactive, has joined the company’s board of directors.
Neil Young, chief executive of N3twork, said: “It is an exciting time to be in our space; we see a massive opportunity to unlock.
“Mobile entertainment is now at the centre of our daily lifestyle and everyone plays games. We are incredibly focused on creating a company that can fully realise the opportunity through combining the best games, the best developer platform and community network to entertain every type of player.”
N3twork raised $12m in a 2013 round led by Kleiner Perkins predecessor Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers that included GV, a corporate venturing subsidiary of internet and technology conglomerate Alphabet, as well as Floodgate. It has not revealed details of additional funding.
