Egypt-based educational publishing company Nahdet Misr has launched an education technology fund called EdVentures.
Nahdet Misr has not disclosed how much funding it intends to provide for EdVentures, which will supply funding for education providers and technology developers in addition to incubator resources and networking opportunities.
The unit will work with Egyptian state-owned research agency Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, and the US Agency for International Development will also be involved through its Strengthening Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development program.
Dalia Ibrahim, Nahdet Misr’s CEO, said: “Nahdet Misr…believes that the journey to reform starts by creating a sustainable ecosystem incorporating all the main stakeholders involved in the educational sector: parents, students, graduates, academic institutions, investors, government and entrepreneurs. That is how the idea of EdVentures originated.”
