US insurer Nationwide has named Josh Balicki as a principal at its corporate venture capital arm, Nationwide Ventures.
Balicki joined Nationwide Ventures in 2021 as a senior associate after more than two years at investment banking firm JMP Securities.
Formed in 2016, Nationwide Ventures focuses on mobility, cybersecurity, enterprise software, property, retirement and future of work technologies. The nine-person team is led by managing partner Erik Ross, who was featured on Global Corporate Venturing’s Powerlist from 2019 to 2022.
Nationwide Ventures has 27 active portfolio companies including business insurance monitoring software provider Certificial and enterprise climate risk modelling platform Mitiga Solutions.
The unit has seen two exits to date, when online investment adviser Bloom and water security management system developer Flo Technologies were acquired by asset manager Morgan Stanley and kitchen and bathroom product manufacturer Moen, respectively.
