Nest Labs, a US-based maker of thermostats, has reportedly raised $80m from a consortium led by Google Ventures at an $800m valuation, according to news provider Gigaom.
Earlier in the month, Nest hired Tom vonReichbauer as its chief financial officer from electric car maker Tesla.
In November 2011, Nest reportedly raised about $50m from corporate venturing unit Google Ventures, corporate and professional services firm Intertrust, VC firms Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Lightspeed Venture Partners and Shasta Ventures, and investment management firm Generation Investment Management, according to news provider Wired.
