Netgear, a Nasdaq-listed technology company, has bought Avaak, a US-based video networking equipment provider backed by chip maker Qualcomm’s corporate venturing unit, for an undisclosed amount reported to be up to $31m.
Architect Partners was financial adviser to Avaak on its sale and said: “Netgear did not disclose the transaction value, but did state that it had used $31mm in cash to acquire Avaak and select assets of a small Indian engineering operation.”
In March 2010, Avaak raised $10m in its series B round from Qualcomm Ventures and venture capital firms Trinity Ventures, Leapfrog Ventures and InterWest Partners. The three VC firms had invested $7m in Avaak’s A round in October 2008.
