US-based network equipment supplier Benu Networks has completed its $27.7m series C round, first revealed in October 2014, with support from Shaw Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of telecommunications company Shaw.
Comcast Ventures, the corporate venturing unit of internet and cable company Comcast, had already invested in the series C round, along with Liberty Global Ventures, the investment subsidiary of cable services provider Liberty Global; telecommunications equipment manufacturer Arris Group; and venture capital firms Spark Capital and Sutter Hill Ventures.
Comcast previously invested as part of Benu’s $26.6m series B round in 2013, which also included Sutter Hill Ventures and Spark Capital.
Benu also secured an undisclosed amount in a 2011 series A round backed by Comcast, Spark and Motorola Mobility Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of smartphone producer Motorola Mobility.
Dino Di Palma, who was announced as new chief executive of Benu Networks in October, said: “This funding will allow Benu to continue to focus on bolstering its sales, marketing and engineering teams, and expand into the Latin America and Asia Pacific regions.”
