Israel-based spacial inteligence startup Neura has received $11m in a series A round that included electronics manufacturer Lenovo Group and AXA Strategic Ventures, the corporate venturing vehicle for insurance and financial services group AXA.
The round, which AXA co-led with venture capital firm Pitango Venture Capital, also featured investment fund Liberty Israel Venture Fund.
Neura has built technology that can recognise and analyse interaction between people and technology, helping to form actionable data that can be used to personalise apps, devices and services for the internet of things. It specifies user control over that information in order to prevent it being used unethically by others.
Gilad Meiri, Neura’s CEO, told Global Corporate Venturing: “The challenge for any startup is identifying investors who are capable, not just of providing financial support, but the type of insights into mission critical industries that can vastly improve our products and strategies.
“AXA and Lenovo bring unique perspectives on two industries that are central to our continued development. Their insights and advice will be essential in helping us bring added value to our users and partners.”
Neura, a participant in Microsoft Ventures’ accelerator program in 2014, raised $2m in April the same year from SingTel Innov8, the corporate venturing arm of telecoms company Singtel, Pitango, Greenhouse Capital Partners, TriplePoint Ventures and assorted angel investors.
