Docomo Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of Japan-based mobile phone operator NTT Docomo, has incubated four new startups, which it showcased at a demo day in Tokyo earlier this month.
At the showcase, the third cohort of Docomo’s 39works incubator pitched to an audience of local investors and local entrepreneurs.
The Japan-based startups pitching included MoneySmart, an app which lets users track their spending and make recommendations to improve saving habits. It won the Innovative Life Design award.
Oton Glass, a smart glass product aimed at helping patients suffering from aphasia, the inability to recognise characters or letters, won the Social Architect award.
Liquid, which won the Sony Select award, provides an authentication service based on fingerprints, while Unlog, a free mobile app which lets a user log their stool, won the Judges and Audience award, as well as the Unique Healthcare award.
