NuoDB compiles funding into $17m round

NuoDB, a US-based database software developer that counts design software producer Dassault Systèmes among its investors, closed a $17m funding round on Tuesday.

The company said the round was ‘driven by its existing investors’ and that it included Hummer Winblad Venture Partners, Longworth Venture Partners and Morgenthaler Ventures, but did not mention Dassault.

NuoDB supplies cloud-based database software for data centres and business applications. It will use the funding to further developer its software and expand its sales and marketing capabilities.

Bob Walmsley, chief executive of NuoDB, said: “With the additional financing from our inventors, we will continue to bolster our database offering and expand the reach of our innovations to help support our customers as they compete in today’s cloud-based, on-demand economy.”

The round brings NuoDB’s total funding to approximately $53m according to press release and regulatory filings. Dassault Systèmes invested in its $14.2m series B round in March 2014 alongside Morgenthaler, Longworth and Hummer Winblad.
