Nvidia, a US-based computer company, has made its first corporate venturing deal in Israel by investing $2.5m in Rocketick, which designs graphics processing unit (GPU) chips.
Nvidia will also become a product licensee of Rocketick’s product, RocketSim, which helps semiconductor companies design and make chips more quickly.
Jeff Herbst, vice-president of business development at Nvidia, will become an observer on Rocketick’s board.
He said: "We have been working with Rocketick over the past year and are delighted to partner with them in our first investment in an Israeli start-up.
"In an industry where the complexity of simulating a chip grows exponentially, [its] technology is critically important. Rocketick shares our vision of the GPU’s limitless potential."
