Nvidia reveals CVC investments

US-based semiconductor and consumer electronics company Nvidia has revealed several additions to the portfolio of its corporate venturing subsidiary, GPU Ventures.

The newly named companies include Abeja, a Japan-based retail analytics developer that exploits artificial intelligence, and Datalogue, a US-based Cornell University spinout that has created a data mining platform which also relies on AI.

Other additions include TempoQuest, a US-based startup that uses graphics processing units to accelerate weather forecasting, and Zebra Medical, an Israel-based healthcare technology producer that exploits AI to read medical images.

Nvidia did not clarify when or how much it invested in the startups, saying only that the investments occurred within the past three years.

The company also named US-based autonomous vehicle developer Optimus Ride and SoundHound, a US-based developer of sound recognition and conversational artificial intelligence technology, as new additions to its portfolio, though its backing had previously been reported.
