US-based marijuana retailer OG DNA Genetics has collected $35m from two funding rounds which included a $6m investment from cannabis production manager MJardin.
Founded in 2004, DNA breeds and grows different strains of cannabis and also sells merchandise such as t-shirts, hoodies, hats, stickers, shirts and accessories, both online and through retail stores.
The company will use the funding to broaden its product offering to include pre-rolled joints, indoor-grown dry flower and cartridges for vaporisers.
MJardin manages the cannabis supply chain and owns cultivation, processing, distribution and retail facilities in the Canada and the US. It also provides project financing to develop, operate and staff cannabis facilities, and software to track plant growth, yield and inventory management.
Through the investment, MJardin plans to access DNA’s library of cannabis strains, as well as the brick-and-mortar retail market in California.
Rishi Gautam, chairman and chief executive of MJardin, said: “DNA Genetics is a highly regarded cannabis brand globally with a presence in three of the largest cannabis markets in the world.
“We are excited to partner with DNA Genetics, which is a true innovator in genetics and breeding, as we grow our US and international footprint.”
