Tobi Oke (pictured), an associate director at UK-listed bank Standard Chartered’s Private Equity unit, has joined Intel Capital, as an investment director based in Lagos, Nigeria.
Oke will focus on investments in sub-Saharan Africa for US-listed chip maker Intel’s corporate venturing unit. Intel Capital has been investing in Africa since 2011 and has made investments in Allied Technologies Limited (Altech) and Rancard.
Marcin Hejka, managing director of Intel Capital eastern Europe, Middle East, Africa and Russia/CIS, said: “Sub-Saharan Africa has become a source of an increasing number of innovative technology companies which venture capital backing can help to develop.”
Prior to Standard Chartered, Oke was an investment associate at HSBC Principal Investments in London, UK, senior consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton and software engineer at phone maker Motorola.
