Omron Ventures absorbs Inoue

Tomoko Inoue departed from venture capital firm MedVenture Partners earlier this year to join Omron Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of Japan-based automation equipment manufacturer Omron, as chief executive.

Inoue had been a senior manager at MedVenture Partners, a subsidiary of public-private investment partnership Innovation Network Corporation of Japan, since 2013 having helped set up the unit. She had been hired as a vice-president by INCJ in 2011.

During her time at MedVenture Partners, Inoue helped raise a $54m fund, source deals and oversaw investments. She had previously been a vice-president at private equity firm Tokio Marine Capital from 2006 to 2009.

Established in 2014, Omron Ventures focuses on developers of factory automation, healthcare, mobility and energy management technology. Its portfolio includes industrial robotics technology developer LifeRobotics and disease management technology provider Lark Technologies.
