Onna obtains $11m in series A round

US-based enterprise data management software provider Onna Technologies has completed a $11m series A round backed by cloud storage provider Dropbox and workplace messaging platform developer Slack.

Dawn Capital led the round with participation from fellow venture capital firm Nauta Capital, which had previously invested $5m in Onna in January 2018. Slack participated through corporate venturing vehicle Slack Fund.

Founded in 2015, Onna offers a range of enterprise data management software tools that help professionals search for information held within various third-party software-as-a-service platforms, such as Slack and Dropbox.

The tools were originally designed for legal teams, however Onna is now targeting the wider enterprise market. Its software also helps clients ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks such as the European Union-mandated General Data Protection Regulation.

Onna will channel the series A capital into its development strategy. It received $3m in equity funding from a single investor in late 2017 according to a securities filing, though that may refer to the Nauta deal announced shortly afterwards.
