Switzerland-based online commodities trading marketplace Open Mineral has raised €4.8m ($5.5m) in a series B round that included global mining company Goldcorp, according to EU-Startups.
The round was led by cleantech-focused venture capital firm Emerald Technology Ventures and featured Igor Kim, managing director at VC fund Xploration Capital.
Founded in 2017, Open Mineral provides a cloud-based platform that enables users to buy and sell base metal concentrates including zinc, lead, copper, gold and silver.
The company applies analytical tools to contract negotiations and offers additional services such as insurance and financing.
Open Mineral previously raised approximately $2.3m in seed funding from Goldcorp and Kim in April this year. Details about the company’s series A round could not be ascertained.
Boris Eykher, CEO and co-founder of Open Mineral, said: “This financing round is an important milestone for Open Mineral, because it allows us to rapidly expand the utility and reach of the Open Mineral Exchange platform.”
