OpenRent, a UK-based online home rental services provider backed by media group Northern & Shell, has received £4.4m ($5.5m) from venture capital fund Global Founders Capital (GFC).
Founded in 2012, OpenRent runs a platform that helps property owners rent out their houses and apartments quickly, providing services such as tenant screening and contract provision. It also functions as a database of free properties for interested tenants.
Northern & Shell took a stake in OpenRent worth an undisclosed seven-figure sum in 2014 through an ad-for-equity deal. GFC is the personal investment vehicle for the founders of e-commerce group Rocket Internet.
