US-based online advertising exchange OpenX has hired Vincent Pelillo (pictured) as managing director of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) a month after raised $20m from a consortium including SAP Ventures, the corporate venturing unit of Germany-based software group SAP.
Pelillo was previously at phone operator Orange-France Telecom Group, latterly as head of networks and advertising exchange, and internet services provider AOL.
Alongside SAP Ventures in OpenX’s D round were AOL Ventures, the corporate venturing unit of internet services provider AOL, Japan-based financial services group Mitsui, Presidio Ventures, which invests on behalf of Japanese conglomerate Sumitomo and venture capital firms Accel Partners, DAG Ventures and Index Ventures.
OpenX has reported revenues of more than $50m per year, according to news provider Financial Times, with customers including discount coupon provider Groupon, Orange-France Telecom Group and Excite Japan.
