Particle, the US-based creator of an internet-of-things (IoT) development platform, has raised $10.4m from investors including O’Reilly AlphaTech Ventures (OATV), the corporate venturing arm of publisher O’Reilly Media.
The round was led by Root Ventures and included another venture capital firm, Rincon Venture Partners.
Earlier this year Particle announced Particle Cloud, an enterprise platform that is helping companies to build and ship secure, reliable IoT products. It has partnered with Google, Microsoft and children’s computer maker Raspberry Pi to bring devices to the cloud.
In total, Particle has raised $14.6m, including a $4.2m series A round in 2014 funded by O’Reilly AlphaTech, Lion Wells Capital, SOSventures, Collaborative Fund and various angel investors. The company launched in 2013 with a Kickstarter campaign raising $567,000.
