Doktor.se, the Sweden-based operator of an online portal for medical services, has raised Skr130m ($14.9m) in funding, Skr100m of which came from pharmaceuticals distributor Oriola, Breakit has reported.
Oriola acquired a 17% stake in Doktor.se through its investment and was joined in the round by a Swedish angel investment group. The startup had previously received approximately $1.6m from angel investors including Åke Lundén and Daniel Pilotti, according to Nordic 9.
Founded in 2016, Doktor.se has built an online platform targeted at employers that provides access to a range of medical services including diagnostic testing.
The company runs two medical centres staffed by its own physicians and nurses, and also offers telemedicine consultations through phone calls or video-based apps.
In addition to getting an equity stake in Doktor.se, Oriola has already been working with it on a commercial partnership enabling the startup’s patients to pick up medicines prescribed through the app from Oriola’s pharmacies.
