David Orlandella has rejoined Orix Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of US-based financial services firm Orix, as managing director, two years after leaving the unit.
Orlandella was principal at corporate venturing unit Orix Corporate Capital for almost two years before leaving in late 2013 to take up a managing director role at asset manager Fifth Street Asset Management, where he oversaw origination and direct investments for its Technology Lending Group.
In his MD role at Orix Ventures, Orlandella will focus mainly on the healthcare sector. The unit has doubled the size of its outstanding commitments, and has elected to form a specialist healthcare team.
In addition to Orlandella’s return, Orix Ventures has also expanded its west coast office, hiring Joel Gragg from Bridge Bank’s Technology division as a director and Laura Johnson from retail software provider RichRelevance as an associate director.
