Patagonia clothes CO2NExus in new funding

Outdoor clothing company Patagonia has invested an undisclosed sum in US-based industrial laundry system producer CO2Nexus.

The company made the investment through its $20 Million & Change fund, launched in 2013, which aims to fund businesses that are developing environmentally friendly products.

CO2Nexus has developed a sustainable system that cleans, disinfects and coats textiles and garments using liquid carbon dioxide as a solvent, which consumers less energy and no water and generates almost no waste.

“Quite simply, processing textiles and apparel requires huge amounts of energy and water – and both are in crisis,” said Patagonia CEO Rose Marcario. “CO2Nexus is a great fit for $20 Million & Change – it’s a young company using business and innovation to bring about positive benefits to the environment. Patagonia is proud to invest in their success.”
