AAA Pearson buys TutorVista

Pearson buys TutorVista

Pearson, a UK-listed media group, has completed the acquisition of India-based education provider TutorVista Global by buying out the remaining 20%.

Pearson had originally bought 17% of TutorVista in June 2009.

In January 2011, Pearson increased its stake to 76% for $127m from venture capital firms Sequoia Capital and Lightspeed and corporate venturing investor Manipal Education and Medical Group before buying a further 4 percentage points later that year.

TutorVista had acquired Edurite Technologies, which had partnered with Manipal Education to enter the K-12 schools sector.
