Pepperdata, a US-based company developing software to operate large computer clusters, has raised a $15m series B round from investors including Citi Ventures, the corporate venturing unit of financial services provider Citigroup.
Silicon Valley Data Capital, the corporate venturing subsidiary of big data company Silicon Valley Data Science, also took part in the round, which was led by Wing Venture Capital and also included Signia Venture Partners, Sand Hill East Ventures, Morado Ventures and several angel investors.
Pepperdata has developed software which uses open-source framework Apache Hadoop to make distributed storage and processing possible on large computer clusters built from commercially available hardware.
Signia and Webb Investment Network led a $5m series A round for Pepperdata in April 2014 that also included several angel investors. In 2012, the company reportedly raised an undisclosed seed round from Morado Venture Partners, Signia, Data Collective and Webb.
The latest funding will be used to grow the Pepperdata’s global marketshare and to support product development beyond Apache Hadoop.
