US-based beauty app developer Perfect Corp closed a $25m series A round on Wednesday featuring video application provider CyberLink Corp
Venture capital firm China Creation Ventures led the round, which included Yuanta Asia Investment, a subsidiary of financial services provider Yuanta Securities, as well as investment firm Extol Capital.
Perfect was spun out of CyberLink in 2015 to focus on developing mobile applications for the beauty market.
The company’s apps include YouCam Makeup and YouCam Nails, which use artificial intelligence and augmented reality to let users to see how they would look in more than 150 brands of beauty products by adding them to selfie pictures or real-time video.
The products, from brands such as Estee Lauder and L’Oréal Paris, can then be purchased through the apps. Perfect will use the funding to further develop its suite of apps.
