PerimeterX protracts series C round to $57m

Telecommunications firm Deutsche Telekom and enterprise software publisher Salesforce added $14m to a series C round for US-based cybersecurity software provider PerimeterX on Wednesday that now stands at $57m.

The funding, invested through subsidiaries Deutsche Telekom Capital Partners and Salesforce Ventures, follows $43m from Scale Venture Partners, Vertex Ventures, Adam Street Partners, Canaan Partners and Data Collective (DCVC) in February 2019.

Founded in 2014, PerimeterX provides enterprise customers with software that defends websites and mobile apps from malicious attacks. By avoiding the use of hardware, it its product can function natively on most common IT management platforms including cloud-based services.

The company’s platform stops malware bots hijacking clients’ web services as well as efforts to harvest sensitive customer data from online forms – an attack known as skimming. Another software tool blocks unsolicited web advertisements and redirections.

Omri Iluz, co-founder and chief executive of PerimeterX, told Global Corporate Venturing: “This extension to our series C is a testament to the growth we are experiencing as a company and the potential we have ahead with our expanded portfolio of solutions.

“Adding new strategic investors like Deutsche Telekom Capital Partners and Salesforce Ventures lets us build on this momentum to scale our business globally and continue to help customers safeguard their digital businesses.”

The extra funding will go towards accelerating PerimeterX’s product development, particularly its efforts to thwart skimming attacks. It has now raised $91.5m altogether, it said.

Canaan Partners led a $23m series B round for PerimeterX in July 2017 that included Vertex Ventures and DCVC. The latter two were both identified as existing investors, but the company has not revealed details of its seed and series A rounds.
