Phunware snaps up Motorola-backed GoTV

US-based branded mobile content developer Phunware has acquired US-based competitor GoTV Networks, a mobile media network, for an undisclosed sum.

GoTV had previously received $12m in series B funding from Motorola Ventures, the corporate venturing division of the US-based telecommunications conglomerate prior to its breakup, and Qualcomm Ventures, US-based telecommunication company Qualcomm’s corporate venturing unit, in March 2007.

Prior to that, GoTV had raised $15m in series A financing, in March 2005, from venture capital funds Bessemer Venture Partners and Charles River Ventures.

Founded in 2009, and backed by an undisclosed investment from angel investor fund, the Central Texas Angel Network, Phunware specialises in producing branded mobile applications (apps) for client companies.
