Phyzios downloads $5.6m

Phyzios, a Japan-based provider of applications for Apple’s iPhone, has raised $5.6m in its series B round.

Local banks Daiwa and Mizuho’s corporate venturing units were part of the consortium along with venture capital (VC) firm Globis Capital Partners and Nissay Capital and the University of Tokyo Edge Capital (Utec), which manages an $83m technology transfer fund after signing a joint venture with VC firm Arch Venture Partners (itself formed out of the University of Chicago in 1986) in April last year.

Phyzios is a software start-up that came out of the University of Tokyo.
