Plaid, the operator of customer satisfaction measurement product Karte, has paid an undisclosed sum to acquire a 64% stake in Emotion Tech, which is another Japan-based provider of a similar service.
Founded in 2013 as Wizpra, Emotion Tech operates a customer experience management tool dubbed Emotion Tech CX and EmotionTech EX, a similar service focused on employees.
The transaction will involve Emotion Tech CX, which concentrates on emotional data analysis and visualisation, merging with Plaid’s Karte software, which examines behavioural data.
Plaid had backed Emotion Tech in May 2020, which came four years after the company had secured a similarly undisclosed amount from social media portal Globalway.
Emotion Tech had secured $2m in 2015 from digital media group Gree’s Strive fund, financial services firms Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and Mizuho Bank’s SMBC Venture Capital and Mizuho Capital units respectively as well as Mobile Internet Capital.
