Media group Boat Rocker has purchased Media Platform One Media, a US-based TV production and distribution studio co-founded by mass media group Liberty Global, for an undisclosed amount, Variety has reported.
Platform One produces scripted televisual content from its base in Los Angeles. It is currently filming a drama-themed series called Rust for the Showtime network and a sci-fi script for consumer electronics producer Apple’s forthcoming streaming platform.
The company will continue to operate as a distinct unit, under Boat Rocker’s ownership. CEO Katie O’Connell Marsh will now also be chair of the company while taking a management position at Boat Rocker.
Elisa Ellis, Platform One’s chief creative officer, and head of finance and strategy Steve Lescroart have both been promoted to co-president in connection with the acquisition.
Platform One Media was launched in 2017 as a joint venture between Liberty Global and Evolution Media, itself a partnership between talent agency CAA and private equity firm TPG.
