Playbasis raises $1.9m in new funding game

Playbasis, a Thailand-based developer of gamification apps for corporate clients, has closed a $1.9m series A round led by a subsidiary of telecommunications company Intouch Holdings, TechCrunch has reported.

InVent, which acts as Intouch’s early-stage investment arm, participated alongside existing backers Cherubic Ventures and 500 Startups.

Playbasis creates app technology using gamification and reward programs to address issues in the workplace. The company is based in Bangkok with its holding company headquartered in Singapore.

The funding will be used to develop more products and technology, such as offering virtual fire drills to minimise staff disruption.

Playbasis previously raised $770,000 in a February 2014 seed round backed by 500 Startups, Ardent Capital and Axis Capital Partners.
