Blockchain technology producer Argo Blockchain invested roughly $10m yesterday to lead a funding round for UK-based blockchain technology and venture capital startup Pluto Digital Assets sized at about $40m.
The round also featured Pires Investments and Riverfort Global Opportunities, and Argo has retained a stake in Pluto Digital sized at approximately 25%, having acquired it by investing an undisclosed amount in February this year.
Pluto Digital Assets was formed to incubate, invest in and support decentralised finance, technology and networks in addition to staking and operating validator nodes for proof-of-stake networks.
Atif Yaqub, a director at Pluto Digital, said: “This is a period of unprecedented opportunity to fill a void in the London markets, bringing a blend of traditional and crypto venture. We are delighted with the results of the fundraise which was heavily oversubscribed and thank our existing shareholders for their support and welcome our new investors.
“The funds give us the firepower for an aggressive push to become a leader in decentralised technology investment. We’re already engaged with an epic constellation of projects in the digital assets space and look forward to helping them bring their vision to fruition.”
