US-based children’s new media brand Pocket.watch has raised $15m in a series B round led by broadcaster Viacom to take its total funding to $21m.
UTA Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of talent agency United Talent Agency, and VC firm Greycroft Partners’ Tracker fund also took part in the round.
Pocket.watch releases short-form videos that have collectively racked up more than a billion views across 20 YouTube channels that have more than 34 million subscribers in total.
The startup has formed a commercial agreement with Viacom spanning content, advertising and talent in connection with the deal. Sarah Levy, chief operating officer of the corporate’s Viacom Media Networks division, will join its board of directors.
UTA Ventures had previously joined Third Wave Digital and angel investors including Les Moonves, Jon Landau, Robert Downey Jr and Chris Jacquemin for the company’s $6m series A round in March 2017.
