PokitDok, a US-based healthcare IT company backed by telecommunications firm Rogers Communications, raised $34m in a series B round led by venture capital firm Lemhi Ventures yesterday.
The company has not named any other investors in the round.
PokitDok operates a cloud-based platform that enables software developers to easily integrate healthcare-related tools, such as eligibility checks, claims submissions and payment processing, into their websites, apps and products.
The cash injection will fund marketing efforts, business development and technical support.
Rogers Venture Partners, the corporate venturing subsidiary of Rogers Communications, co-led a $4m series A round with VC firm New Atlantic Ventures in 2013 that included Subtraction Capital, FFP Holdings and assorted angel investors
Charles River Ventures, Ballast Fund and angel investors provided $1.3m in seed funding for the company in 2012. PokitDok has also secured a total of $4.1m in debt financing, according to regulatory filings.
Tony Miller, founder and managing partner of Lemhi, said: “In a short window of opportunity to innovate, PokitDok has introduced a novel solution to legacy issues and high costs that plague the healthcare industry.
“It is the first company to effectively reorganise the underlying technology infrastructure and has a brilliant team to transform the industry forever.”
