Rick Prostko, former managing director at US cable group Comcast’s corporate venturing unit, has left to join Canada-based pension fund Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (OTPP) for its North American innovation platform.
Prostko is Teachers’ Innovation Platform’s first US-based hire having been set up 18 months ago to manage growth-stage investments.
His roster of deals at Comcast included Identified (acquired by Workday), Dollar Shave Club (acquired by Unilever), Instacart (now valued at $13.7bn), Raw Pressery, Hollar, Hired, Bunker, B8ta, Madison Reed, Modsy and Attabotics.
Prostko had joined Comcast Ventures in 2012 having previously spent five and a half years as a principal at venture capital firm VantagePoint Capital Partners.
He is the latest senior departure from Comcast Ventures since Amy Banse announced her retirement as CEO and the unit was “aligned more closely” to business units.
