Pure Storage, a US-based data storage company previously backed by South Korea-based conglomerate Samsung’s corporate venturing unit, has raised $40m in its series D round.
Venture capital firm Index Ventures led Pure’s series D round, which included VC firms Greylock, Redpoint and Sutter Hill, as well as other angels from VMware (Diane Greene and Mendel Rosenblum, both co-founders,) and DataDomain (Frank Slootman). Data storage company EMC acquired VMware and DataDomain.
VMware’s VMWorld conference will see Pure update its FlashArray product and which will be integrate with VMware.
Samsung Venture Investment Company has also been an investor in Pure, which has raised $95m over its lifetime, but was not mentioned in the D round.
Pure previously closed its C round in August last year at $30m from Samsung, the VC firms and angels.
