Pureplay Skin Sciences, an India-based beauty and skincare product brand, has collected Rs 1.1bn ($14.9m) in a series B round featuring Unilever Ventures, the strategic investment arm of consumer goods producer Unilever, VCCircle has reported.
The round was led by private equity firm Faering Capital and included venture debt firm Trifecta Capital.
Founded in 2013, Pureplay markets a range of beauty and grooming products with ingredients suitable for vegans, under the brand name of Plum. The series B funding will help the company expand its offering as it looks to increase its market share.
Sameer Shroff, co-founder and managing director at Faering Capital, will join Pureplay’s board of directors in conjunction with the round. Unilever Ventures had previously supplied the company with $2.1m of series A funding in late 2018.
